Re: ac troubles
First, get someone with guages to check your pressures. If good you may have a bad low pressure sensor - on an 88-89 you can check on the CRT, have heard you can read on a 90 but not sure how.

Re: ac troubles
Why would disconnecting and re-connecting the battery make a difference? Is there a relay possibly stuck?

Re: ac troubles
No, I think it re-sets the computer (like a reboot)... I had a similar problem with the AC and disconnecting the battery did the trick...

Re: ac troubles
My AC was not blowing cold when I took it to the Buick dealer.
The first thing my mechanic did was check the computer. He found two
Error codes. both power failing. From when I changed the batterty and some other work I did. He cleared the codes and all of
a sudden we had cold air.

Re: ac troubles
OK, probably a stupid question. Are there any potential problems which could show up if the battery is disconnected and re-connected?

Re: ac troubles
No problems with disconnecting the battery. When starting for the first time, let it idle for a few minutes to re-learn it's idle settings though.
Say when the air con detects that the refrigerant charge is very low, it'll disable the compressor for engaging. And a code is set. When the codes are cleared, there's nothing to keep the compressor from engaging. This is why stuff gets fixed when codes are cleared.
I think the sticker under the hood mentions this

The "GS" will rise again.
