    91 Reatta parting

If you have looked at ebay any time over the last few days you will have noticed a 91 coupe which was never in a collision being sold one part at a time. I emailed the seller and asked "I am curious, why are you parting out a 91 coupe which has never seen collison damage?" He replied that he obtained the car at a police auction and there was no title available so he had no choice. I am not sure how he drove it 200 miles without a title but that's his response. The parts he is selling all look in good conditon from the photos.

I tried buying the front plate bracket and fog lamps. Got sniped on both. I would not have gone higher than my bids anyway.

I bought my Fiero at a police auction (was a felony seized vehicle) and had no title problems at all. Are the rules in Florida that different ?

I agree with Padgett. I know of no state which allows any state or city/county agency to sell a vehicle without a title. even insurance salvage vehicles come with them.

I doubt when everything is finally sold, the total will reach $2500. it doesn't seem really worth it to me. many of these items, such as the fenders, must be incredibly well-protected when shipped. I can't imagine shipping any item by bus, either, and that Greyhound would take something as large as a hood.

we ship everything we sell thru the postal service (with the exception of hoods and windshields), and their prices are much cheaper than even Greyhound. our average cost for shipping a fender is $18.00 to the east coast from Arizona. we even shipped an entire front bumper assembly (!) to Honolulu for $43.00 with the postal service, priority mail. Fedex wanted over $500 for the same thing.

good luck to anyone who buys any of these items from this car...I wouldn't necessarily expect anything to arrive in one piece.

His shipping method does seem screwy and His feedback reflect it.

I sent the seller a note asking for the vin number so we could note the car was scrapped on the database. That was last Thursday and no response.
