88-89 Riviera ?

Am spending a lot of time in New Orleans and am thinking about something disposable to station here.
At the same time want somthing similar to the Reatta for playing. 88-89 Rivieras have the same digital dash and seem cheap but AutoTrader.com does not seem to cover this area. Any out there ?

Padgett, I checked Ebay for any 88/89 Rivs and came up empty. But I did see an 86 Riv that looks great. It has a touch screen but I don't know if it compatible with the 88/89 Reatta or Riveria. They say the 86 Riv has some engine noise though. You might want to check it out ... Ebay Item # 1839176996.

    Padgett,
For a great set of cheap wheels, I would avoid all of the GM cars that use the Teves ABS system. For the same price as a cheap Riv, you could get a Park Avenue or Lesabre that does not have the Teves problem-waiting-to-happen-system. For about the same price as a used 87-89 Riv, you could get a 91 or newer Park Avenue and have the airbag, leather and a better ABS system.
Good luck!
Joe

I suspect "Our Man Padgett" is wanting to have available a platform running the Reatta electronics for R & D while he's stranded in N.O.
Drove out to Rte 90 yesterday afternoon and no sign of the '88-89 I mentioned.
The EBay item mentioned above looks pretty decent, sounds suspiciously like the Cam Chain tensioner may just be worn out.

here what I saw out here in scottsdale on friday: '92 riviera, white with blue cloth, no vinyl top, matching alloys with michelin tires, not a blemish anywhere, one owner, garage kept, 88K mi., everything worked, just a gorgeous car. $3500

Thank folks. Probably should not have mentioned here because I *greatly* prefer to find something locally - why have hestitated about some others I've found.
86 Riv. looks like will go fo a good price but wanted the "C" engine with roller lifters and balance shaft - the history indicates that this began in '88 and lasted through '90 being replaced in the Reatta by the "L" in '91.
Am really very conservative where personal investment is concerned.

    Re: 88-89 Riviera ?

Would prefer to keep my wife, see her more often than the Reatta.
This means a cheap and disposable car I can leave unattended in NO for weeks at a time. 88-89 Riv fits that description while having most of the Reatta electronics and drivetrain.
