    1989 Reatta--electrical problems--AC--wipers

I have been having intermitten electrical problems with my wipers and AC for the past 3 months. Will work for a few days and then go off for a day. My CRT screen reads "elecrical problem service as soon as possible". This will come on very 10 seconds --go away and then come back in a day or 2. I took it to an auto elecrical shop and after 4 days they found no problem ( no codes they could trace--used plug on dash to find codes) --they did howver make the CRT alert go away but not the problem.I think they disabled the CTR screen alert for this problem?? Now I get a "elecrtical problem" lite on the dash above the speedomter that flashes every 5 minutes or sometimes every 30 seconds when the AC and wipers are both working. Took it to another shop --same thing --can not find a problem. AC and wipers come and go. Always works in the morning and acts up after I drive 10 miles or more. Stop the car and restart and no AC --I push all the switches sometimes it comes back on in 3 -5 minutes sometimes will not come back on for 8 hours. A fellow Reatta owner in the area showed me how to check the codes by pushing the off and warm buttons on climate screen on the CRT sceen. I get several codes B146 B446 B452 --Is there a palce in the Houston area that understands how to diagonse this --or does anyone have any suggestions ? Everything else works fine except the am radio has alot of static -that my other cars do not have. I do not want to continue to restore this until I get rid of the electrical issues.
I love the car --drives like a dream and is really cool looking. HELP!

Start with B446 "Low Refrigerant Pressure". Could be caused by low freon. Correcting that might fix the AC problem.

I couldn't find the other two codes in the Field Service Manual. Are you sure you wrote them down correctly?

B132: "Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit". I got this one all the time when I first got my Reatta. I changed the oil pressure sensor and it went away. If you will push the "gages" but on the bottom left of the CRT screen you will see the oil pressure displayed. If you watch it will probably give some strange, out of range readings.

B552: "BCM Keep Alive Memory Error" Never had this one myself but it can be caused by loose connections at the battery or ground points throughout the car. Clear the codes and see if it returns.

Go to Reatta.net and sign up for the Field Service Manual that is online there. Will help you a lot and it is FREE!
