straight 8 engine question...

My dad's got a 39 Century we're trying to get to run right, and we've noticed a few oddities in the engine. THe carb and fan/pulley/whatever you want to call it assemblyi are from a '48 motor. Got the engine number off it, so could one of y'all nice folks tell me what year this number's from: 6-3454490. Thanks
