Need help pricing option codes

I am trying to read a very faded copy of the dealer's invoice that came with my 1976 Century pace car replica. I have deciphered the price of the most of the option codes except these few. Can any help me with prices for these options, from a '76 Century?
F 7 - Steel belted radial wide oval white billboard letter tirees
L 1 - tinted glass
U 1 - convenience group

Your help is most appreciated!

Re: Need help pricing option codes

F7 - Steel Belted Radial Ply Wide Oval White Billboard Lettered Tires, GR70-15
Price = $51.20 (if you also have the space saver spare option) or $64.00 without the space saver spare option.

L1- Tinted Glass = $50.00

U1 - Trunk light & sunshade map light =$5.00 (with electric sunroof or combination dome/reading lamp) or $15.00 without electric sunroof or combination done/reading lamp.

All of the prices listed above are for the Century Custom 2 dr. Colonnade hardtop coupe model 4AH57. The prices are different for other models.

Can you tell me what price, option code and wording you show for the pace car option? I have been looking for that info for quite a while.

Thanks...

Re: Need help pricing option codes

Thank you for the help, Mike! Very much appreciated!
The explanation and pricing for pace car option is:
Y1 Replica Pace Car Package: includes sport mirrors, stowaway spare tire, styled wheels, specific striping and specific styling $309.60

The Hurst Hatch roof was a separate option, code Z8, Hurst Hatch Roof, $550.

Hope that helps!

Re: Need help pricing option codes

Alan,

Is it $309.60 or 409.60? I was told by another source that it was $409.60 but if you have actual documentation stating it was $309 I will go with your price.

If you are interested in a reproduction sticker for your pace car I can make one for you. Just check out my web site at the bottom of my post.

Thanks,

Re: Need help pricing option codes

In those model years, the Hurst Hatch Roof was not done at the factory, but by an authorized Hurst Hatch Installation Center near the location (hopefully close by) of the dealership the vehicle was invoiced to. If the price is on the window sticker, it was all handled outside of the dealer's normal activities, but if it was a "dealer add-on" situation, it would not be on the manufacturer's window sticker or build sheet.

To do that installation, the interior was removed and a holding tool placed into the sun visor mounting holes and also inserted into a rear roof inner structure area (especially on unit body vehicles!!). Then the template was installed, along with plenty of masking tape around the areas to be cut, and the installation began. In some cases, an extra front-back brace was installed down the middle of the inner roof structure. Other than the disassembly and reassembly, the installation was pretty straight forward to do.

Back then, the Hurst Hatch Roof option was a really big deal. On some GM cars, the width of the glass in the roof panels was narrower than with some of the later brands, especially on the F-body Firebirds.

Just some thoughts,

Re: Need help pricing option codes

The "hurst hatch roof" would be shown on the window sticker as option Z8. As you said it was done at an off factory site but the '72 Suncoupe Buicks were also done at an off factory site and that option was shown on the factory sticker.

I agree that if anything was a dealer add-on it would not be on the sticker.

The "replica pace car" had its own wholesale order form so all of the available options that could be ordered from the factory were listed on it including the hatch roof or electric sun roof. I would be really surprised it any dealers had the "hatch roofs" installed on their own, a regular sun roof maybe

Either way, I really like the '75 & '76 pace cars...

Re: Need help pricing option codes

Alan,

How about a photo or two? After I get my Buick Barn built, I need to get me one of those...it would be nice to have a car with "modern" conveniences, but still be an older Buick. Besides, I don't have anything from the 70s.

I had a line on one a while back in Edmonton...on eBay...he wanted a chunk more money than the guides say it was worth, it had some sort of mechanical problem (I think maybe it was a knock), and needed paint / decal kit.

Someday.
