Buick Road wheel interchange/appearance
My 70 Wildcat came from the factory with steel wheels and hubcaps. I will be putting the Buick mags aka Road Wheels on it. The Wildcat is in the process of being placed on "blocks" as I have plenty to work on in front of it.
I need 1-2 wheels for my recently arrived 48 Packard just so we could roll it as it arrived with decades old tires that were flat.
So I need to make a run to the U Pick It Yard to see about purchasing some Buick road wheels and is it me or do they take on a different "look" in the late 70's? I doubt the U Pick It has Buick Road Wheels from the early 70's and I don't really want to pay $$$ for shipping in some ebay wins so--are they same in all years to 1985 so they would look correct on the 70 Buicks or are they different?

Re: Buick Road wheel interchange/appearance
1964 - 1970 Formula Five wheels basically look the same. There are some differences in the profile for disk brake clearance on some of the later models. Within these years, you'll also find that the center holes have different diameters. 71 -78 wheels have a different look. If you lay a 64 - 70 wheel on its face, it will lie flat. If you lay a 71 - 78 wheel on its face, it will rock on the center hub. They all have the same 5 on 5 bolt pattern and they're all 15" x 6" except for wheels from an Estate Wagon. IF you can find those, they're 15" x 7" sizes - very rate.

Re: Buick Road wheel interchange/appearance
Seems like there was an article in THE BUGLE about the subtle differences in the various model years of 15" Buick road wheels? Also one in the RIVIEW, with additional information on stamp codes and such, several years prior to that?
You might be able to find some of the middle 1980s Buick aluminum wheels (from Park Avenues and Estate Wagons) which were 15x7s. Might make a spiffy "temporary" look until the factory chrome wheels are located?
Just some thoughts,

Re: Buick Road wheel interchange/appearance
FYI, when I bought (late 60's) Road Wheels for my 63 Wildcat, I had to buy two complete sets to get four wheels that balanced well. (eBay)
I also didn't realize the difference between the disc and drum versions. I cut out the ring meant for the disc version with no adverse affect on the wheels.
Can't answer re: later wheels.

This chart was part of the article in the Bugle several years ago:
