Anyone want a '66 225 Ragtop

1966 Buick Electra 225 Convertible, AC,AT,PS, PB,PT, power seat, factory cruise, factory tilt,401cu w/425 intake w/roch spread bore 4-barrel. Professional rebuild (I got ripped off, because I was stupid) lets just say that I paid more for the rebuild than I did for the car. Needs new interior and minor body work for someone skilled at it. New floor pans, new axels/bearings, everything works for the most part, except for the gas gauge and I have no earthly reason why! I'm ready to get out of the old car world and focus on sailing......
To sail is to experience a transformation of the spirit.

Selling out is better than smearing vaseline on the grill and parking it in the backside of the guy who rebuilt it for you. I am sure you feel pretty bad, and we've all been taken for that ride, at least once. I applaud your tact, reserve and,....hope you keep a lead life preserver on the boat,...just in case the guy who rebuilt the car for you ever needs it!
RS

    Strat...
Just an unsolicited opinion from one who's been taken for at least one ride (each) on old cars, old airplanes and boats (power and sail)... and younger women (beyond the scope of this forum)
Sounds like you've got the hard parts of your Electra project out of the way. Maybe letting the project cool off for a while and sailing a bit will allow you to approach the balance of the restoration with a fresh perspective. It'd be a shame to cut the rope on the sunk cost.
Besides, that hoss will pull a nice sailing rig.
Gas gauge inop? Here's ideas:
Bad sending unit
Corrosion on electrical connections (mine was corrosion under dash on the printed circuit board... (first part)
Damaged wiring harness (second part) from where a shade tree mechanic drilled through the ribbon cable when installing rear seatbelts
Corrosion on the fuse holder
bad ground from sending unit to chassis
sunk float/fload missing in tank
bad gauge
It's true... time spent under sail does not count against your alloted time on this planet.
Cheers, and good luck!
John

------------------
John Chapman
BCA 35894
1965 Skylark Convertible (Some Assembly Required)
jmchapman@aol.com
