    '56 heater core

Does anyone know the easiest way to remove and replace a heater core on a '56 special? Does it come out into the fender well? How do you get to the screws or bolts? Do you have to take the fender off?

No you don't have to remove the fender, but that would make it easier; you may be able to gain access by removing the two portholes nearest the door: kinda hard if you have big hands and wrists. It's a big pain in the butt! Feel around the edge of the shroud, you may want to use a wire brish before hand and locate the philips head screws and remove them; use some liquid wrench before hand so not to strip the heads. It takes someone VERY limber as I recall, but it can be done.
I hope this was some help to you; I can look further into it if need be,

Hey Jaybird, I appreciate the info, I'm sure it will be a pain in the butt as I am both big and old, I've been working on this car 40 years, and it doesnt get any easier but I'll sure give it a try.
thanks, any more info would be appreciated too
