I am considering the purchase of a 49 roadmaster convertible that is partially restored. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me information on what sources to use to get a good idea of the value of this car (eg. website, books, etc.)

Is this the car that was listed in last weekend's Portland "Oregonian"? If so, it seemed like a good deal, based on the description. My guess is that a restored example would sell in the $40,000 - $50,000 range, although I do not have any price guides with me at the moment. Certainly, this is a highly-desirable model.
One of the best ways to gain a feel for the market value of these cars would be to watch the auction results, as some of the old car price guides tend to be optimistic as far as the values. This process might require patience, however, as these cars are probably rare sights at the auctions. Perhaps someone else here will be aware of a recent sales of this model.
[ 04-25-2002: Message edited by: Centurion ]

I just recently purchased a 49 convertable and with the research I did I came up with the same figures as Centurion.Parts for 49s can be quite hard to find as they were a one year only model so the more complete the one your looking at is the better. There does still seem to be a bit out there though,I found a NOS rear fender trim but it was $495.00, too dear for me. I also found a mint Dyna Flow trunk emblem complete for $10.00 but thats mine now.Tell me more about the one your looking at,whats the asking price and condition?
Good Luck,
Chris
