Previous Editions: 4C was formerly called China Rally of International Classic Cars. 2011 China Rally was the first and biggest event of classic cars ever held in China. In 2012, 40 cars from 16 countries and 7 car manufacturers participated and there were more than one million spectators.
Everyone was thrilled by the presence of famous personalities such as Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann from Volkswagen, former Formula 1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck, Achim Stejslal from Porsche Museum and the first Chinese Formula 1 driver Hopin Tung.

How do tour participants handle the conditions? what and how are breakdowns handled?
What spare parts are advisable? How and where do folks stop for gas, etc?
The car I would take is a 1929 Chrysler coupe.

Hello everyone! Gloria and I made it down here yesterday at around 2pm. The weather was....well wet yesterday! We had our opening banquet at the Air & Space Museum. There was a lot to see and do there, but we were on a tight schedule and a little too tuckered to see everything. We will come back to the Museum later in the week and see more. I decided to leave '56 on the trailer until Monday morning. (I hate unstrapping in the rain.)

Monday!

Well, I got up early, darn time change, and found the trailer parking and proceeded to offload my wagon. I waited until today so as to miss the rain. Well, it's still raining, but I got her off the trailer, a really nice parking lot for trailer and camper parking. I've got my cameras and will take pictures. Did I tell you it was raining? Bob Bentley, our Tour Chairman, said you just wait another day and the weather is sure to change.????? Still waiting Bob!??:D

All kidding aside we are reuniting with old friends we haven't seen for a while. I got my early breakfast this morning with friends from North Carolina, Becky and James Woodall. James and I were comparing the junk we had accummulated over the years, junk we should have thrown out years ago. Did you know that I have 2 enclosed car trailers and neither one has a running car inside???:D See, we moved the kids out(they finally found a job), but somehow they left their junk here. I will be having a used clothes, toys, books yard sale in June. Ya'll come on down!:cool:

Anyway, we are going to a Cavern today, yep a big hole in the ground. I will take some pictures of some of our day, if I find a dry spot to pull the lens cap off.:p They are taking car pictures this morning too. I will be the one in the red Chevy wearing the rain gear! :eek:

So, bear with us. It will all be fine and we have a very nice turnout. 370 people for the BBQ! look forward to seeing everyone there...we also just produced a meet t-shirt so make sure you stop by the blue AACA trailer (we want to show it off as it has been recently refurbished).

EVA/DC and MD Volt Inc., two Mid-Atlantic electric vehicle clubs, are planning the commemoration of the 1914 Electric Sociability Run.

As I'm sure you know, electric vehicles were very popular in the early days of the automobile. In 1913, there were over 700 electric cars in the city of Washington, DC. A group organized a "sociability run" of 54 electric cars that drove 14 miles to a picnic in Rock Creek Park on May 27, 1914. We are commemorating the 99th anniversary of that event this Memorial Day.

We already have about 34 electric cars with 54 drivers and guests registered so far. I expect that we will have over 40 EVs which is probably the largest gathering of electric vehicles in Washington since those historic events. We have already received some early press attention, nationally.

Our message is that the automobile is returning to its electric roots. It would be a bonus to have a classic electric vehicle there!
