Since I first bought my 51, the starter doesn`t engage every time I go to start her, but I can hear the starter motor. After a few attempts she starts right up or if I rock the car in gear.I`m hoping I`m not jeopardizing the fly wheel or starter by running her this way since there is no grinding noise. If it is the teeth on the fly wheel, can this be repaired without removing the fly wheel? Or can it be run this way without causing any damage?

I've been trying to make this car look decent. It was pulled out of a garage and painted years ago now the son-in-law wants it to be completed for him. They did a decent paint job but failed to do so much as pull a plug wire or brake drum. More on the suspension clean up later.
I am now detailing it for him so the inside can look presentable. It was kinda like having a new suit on, but last weeks underwear on! They guy who painted it made a big mistake by squirting black in the engine bay. It should be blue as well. Now it's like working in a cave.

Hi everyone I,m just the new kid on the block when it comes to restoring the classic cars. I think I picked a good one for the first one a 1934 buick sr.40 club sedan. It looks like all the parts are there and then some. It has the original 233 straight eight with 76,000 mi unfortunatly the timing chain was so worn it bent three push rods. Thats where I need some help. I'm looking for anybody who could point me in the right direction in rebuilding her. Thanks for the help anything is appreciated.

Capacities with filter are 5 1/2 quarts, is that correct? Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a 28 dodge victory sedan, well some of it, body(no floor) fenders, doors, running boards, frame(bare)& the front cowl. I would like to make a rat rod out of it . What are the pros and cons about using the 28 frame. Can the front end from something else be added (brakes, rotors calipers etc.)easy enough or is it wiser to use the frame ( rolling chassis) from something else. Its my first project, hoping someone out there would like to sharesome experience. thanks in advance.

1953 Dodge Coronet Convertible - Any Others Out There?

I very recently bought a 1953 Dodge Coronet convertible that had been in storage since 1965 from the family of the original owner. It has its original Red Ram engine with Gyro-Torque transmission & is like a 12 year old used car (which it was when it was put up). Am currently going thru the process of getting it running.

In searching the internet for information on these cars, I find pictures of only three such cars - a restored one in a collection in Nevada, another restored one & a bare body (1953 or 54) at undisclosed locations. Supposedly 4,100 of these cars were made in 1953. Can the survival rate be so low that these convertibles are this scarce? I understand there are no others listed on the club roster. Any guesses as to survival rate - even at 10% there should be ~400 of them out there? Anyone have one or remember seeing one?

My first car was a 53 Coronet sedan, also with the Red Ram. A convertible would have certainly caught my attention over the years had I seen one. My other collector car is a 69 GTX, so now I have a "collection".
