1951 Nash - I am talking to a seller. I am not familiar with this style auto, I certainly am no mechanic. He said the motor at one time had partially fallen out, and a welder installed a new "third member". Better than new supposedly. Here's the question: the welder had said the rear end (not the rear axle, but the rear part of the uni-body) was going to need attention next. Is this a situation that a general welder could address, or a body shop/frame shop would need to fix? Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

I'm new to the site. Been into old VW's but after owning a few I have lost my interest and sold my 55'. Recently I found a 1940 Nash Ambassdor 6 (4020) for sale locally. Seems like a really solid car, almost no rot, and mostly complete. Needs some interior plastics and the turn signals under the headlights otherwise tis all there. It has the optional overdrive. It will need a full resto too though (the work does not scare me at all). So maybe not worth it moneywise?

While I am contemplating what to offer, I also wonder...how hard is it to find parts? Almost impossible? Thats my real fear with a car like this as opposed to a Buick from the same era. Which I have also found for sale locally.

Any advice to someone young, stupid, and looking for a neat 1937-42 car to restore.

Thanks
John
