All,

Got back last night to Stuttgart from Ramstein where I had been at a conference. A 2+ hour drive at higher speeds on the autobahn (to avoid getting run over by everything from Beemers to delivery trucks) was a definite strain on the engine. By the time I got back to the garage under my apartment building, the "Check engine light" was on (Codes 44 and 45) and she sounded tired. :(

Beyond dealing with the problems already indicated, I would like to wring more power from the engine. I know some people have gotten some enhancement from the SMEC upgrade but I was wondering if it is really that noticeable.

If the upgrade is not enough, what would be the next step? Is there something else that can be done to the 8v engine to give it more hp without risking a drastically lowered life span (on an engine that may be starting to show its age)?

Thoughts?

Well I am now the proud owner of an 89 Cabernet & Ginger TC. I couldn't be more pleased. It is the colour combination I wanted and it is by far the best car I have looked at (in my price range).
It has a few issues, the odometer doesn't work, the radio works when it feels like it. I need the switches for the seats on the console. I bought the car from the original owners, they had all the paper work including the window sheet with price etc. They even had the request card for the engraved dash plaque Chrysler offered.
I did the 600 mile trip home without much problem, the check engine light came on after one of the stops but everything was ok as far as oil, temp etc and it went out after it was shut off for a bit, so it may have misfired when it started. The car has sat for about a year, since the guys mother bought herself a new Camry.
They had recently replaced the timing belt so thats one thing I don't have to do. One thing that did concern me. Today when I took the car out there was smoke coming from underneath the car. I found the plastic plug from the rocker cover at the cam had almost fallen right out. So not sure what happened there. But it wasn't down very much on oil.
Having the car inspected on Thursday for the transfer into my name and plating it.
It was a bitter sweet trip as I dropped my Imperial off at the shipping broker for its trip to France. Like parting with a dear friend.
Well if anyone has any suggestion what I should be doing with this little guy please let me know.

Good luck to someone.

I'm going to tell you a little story about oldtimers practices and youngsters changing "The way it's done". Probably because in these times, they just learn too quickly.
Us old pilots always wear earphones when we fly, not only do we hear the radio transmissions better; but it helps retain our hearing.
~ ~ ~ BUT ~ ~ ~
We always cock 1 earpiece off just a little bit, that's so we can hear what's happening in the world around us. Too often in conversations with younger pilots, I find no one (Basically thier instructors) ever explained that to them. So it becomes a forgotten piece of keeping your head in what you are doing.
It holds true for cars too.
That stuff you do with a radio (and a cell phone) is not supposed to be a distraction, from the ~ ~ "Art of Driving" ~ ~ ...
Have a nice day, Lou

This car was sold on Ebay earlier this month, it sold at that time for $3500.00 which I thought was very cheap given the condition of the car and the amount of detailing that went into the car. I think it could make a great addition to someones collection, or a great first TC

Hello all. This is my first post here. My 1990 Red 16Valve overheated on the way home last night. I have no time to determine what happened. It may just be a bad thermostat, but who knows. The car has 77,000 miles showing, (odo inop) and it still starts and runs ok. New clutch, $1,500 Turbo repair. Let me know if anyone is interested in it. Ask questions and I will answer them.
I have had three TC's (all at once) and now it is time for someone else to have the fun (and the pain) of this one.
I will take some pictures of it as soon as possible and put them on here.
Thanks,
Bill.

Last week I was in the DFW area and found a yellow TC in the Pick a Part at the intersection of loop 12 ( 408 ) and I 30.
I got the headlights, grill, floor mats and the ABS pump/motor Psw and Accumulator.
I am in MN and had to leave the parts in Texas until around Thanksgiving when I will be going back there and will bring them home at that time. I would like to sell them when I get them home. I also have some taillight pieces from the TC I found in Dallas last spring.
The car I found last week has the hard top on it and most of the other parts were there.
It had a spray painted pink engine and I think that meant it had been a cash for clunkers car.
I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

I was shocked when I stopped for fuel the first time on the way up and calculated my fuel mileage at 28.6 mpg. I fuel up again before I left Gettysburg ,went through Sharpsburg Md. , and the on to Harper's Ferry,W.V. before heading toward home ,east of Richmond. I am still yet to put fuel in the car. I am going to try to post a few pictures of the car while on the trip.

Like I said below, I really like this car....but!! If someone out there has some suggestions re: potential options for selling I would be happy to hear from you.
I bought this extrremely nice TC in Chandler 2 years ago. I had intended to export the vehicle to Canada due to it's uniqueness....there aren't too many there. I have since changed my mind for a variety of reasons. I bought the vehicle with 79K on it and added 5K last winter when I used it for our primary vehicle while wintering in Mesa. This vehicle is in very nice condition both inside and outside.
This TC is yellow with black leather interior c/w with hardtop, hardtop stand and cover, extra original wheel and tire, brand new tires installed a week ago and runs extremely well. I really think that this is a beautiful car, however, I have another vehicle here for the winter and a new vehicle back in Canada so something needs to go.
The vehicle is currently licenced and insured and I keep it garaged...using only when weather is favorable...which is almost all the time in Mesa, AZ. I am asking $4,750.00 (ob.o) for this car (less than I paid). I have clear title in hand.
I couldn't seem to load pictures, however, I would be more than happy to email you pictures I have taken and any others that you may want.

Hey guys.

Just to let you know, Turbos Unleashed has spark plug wires for the 16 valve Maserati motor that fit better then stock wires. The coil wire that plugs into the distributor is at a 45 degree angle so it does not hit the intake manifold. The wires are 8.5mm. Plus the spark plug end fits on perfect and does not need to be cut. Whoever designed these really did their homework. I have had mine for about three weeks and everything is perfect.
