I am doing a body off resto on a '65 olds starfire and need some expert advice

1) I am converting the front to disc brakes. I know you can take 68-69(?) disc brakes and install on a '65, but cant remember if I can use the 65 spindles or if I have to use the 68. can someone confirm the year car and parts I need to make this work?.

2) Did Olds make a duel quad or tri power intake that can be placed on a 425? If so, what year.

3) Before I haul the body to the shop, does anyone know of lower rear quarter replacement panles, and trunk floor, or if another GM will substitute? fabing these is a last resort.

4) I need rear exhaust tips to either purchase, or to get measurements to manufacture from SS myself.

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

I am beginning the restoration of a 1957 Oldsmobile 88 Convertible, and need suggestions on where to get parts.

I am wondering if there are correct interior kits available with heat pressed door panels and correct seat fabrics and patterns. The car sat out for some time so the original seat patterns are mostly gone. Would like to find correct top as well.

Is the correct LOF script windshield and side glass if available?

I have located a source for engine and suspension "kits", but wondering if I can locate the parts individually and perhaps save some money.

Thanks for any information.

Back in Feb I finally found a company that was rebuilding the elc compressors for many GM and Ford cars....

Back in Feb I finally found a company that was rebuilding the elc compressors for many GM and Ford cars. http://www.suncoreindustries.com/"]Suspension, Air Suspension, Parts, Conversion, Kits, Air Ride, Airbags, Shocks, Coils, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Hummer, Range Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Toyota - Suncore Industries.[/URL] However they didn't rebuild the 79-85 systems, just the 95-99 and various other GM's from 86-current. After discussing with the Supervisor that the air dryer in these compressors for the Riv had a valving arrangement just for E-bodies that needed to maintain 15-20 psi at all times they agreed to rebuild it since, "they were all the same pretty much" according to the company. The valving arrangement is just a couple of springs and a rubber flap like a check valve that is inside the dryer on the system. I have finally got around to getting this rebuilt compressor on the car. I've also built myself an ELC tester very similar to the ones the service manual says to use (pictured) Now I've found that the rebuilt compressor is leaking down after about two hours. There were a few hicups during this rebuild process with the company Rep finally saying they were not going to rebuild these anymore for the 79-85 models!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get these compressors rebuilt where they don't leak down? I'm suprised more people aren't having trouble with these.

Is there any other company out there that maybe I don't know about that would consider rebuilding these? Since our 79-85's are getting some collector attention I'm sure the need for these will be more in demand, not to mention it's the same compressors used for Eldo and Toro of this vintage.

Sorry but manually adding air to the system is not something I'm interested in doing. Pictured is the tester I made for these systems. Mine is permantely mounted for the time being.

Anyone have any ideas of maybe companies to go to, to try and get them to consider a rebuilding program on these? So far no one rebuilds any of these for the Big Buicks, Oldsmobiles or Cadillacs!

The Car spent all of its life in Texas until now so this feature was probably rarely used. There is no heat entering the passenger compartment, defrost pulls all the way out, but only blows cold air.
The far right pull knob does not come out very far, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out what/where it is actually pulling at the other end to help it along.

I see no Fluid Control Valve under the hood, just hoses going into the firewall.
Drawing in the Manual is hard to distinguish what should be going on, just basic routing of the cables. Description of the system operation is vague, at best.

Help me get some heat so we can enjoy the fall in Michigan before we HAVE to put it away for the winter.
