Am still having the issue that after a few days down, the rear tonneau pins (primarily driver's side) do not want to stay socketed. Even after the top stretches enough to stay, one set of RR tracks results in a pop.

I have swapped the pins side to side and problem stays on driver's side. Have lubed the latch/cables every which way and it is firmly closing but a tight top will still pop.

Is this just to be expected with a cheap top or is it something else ? I have adjusted the pins so far out that the rubber seal barelt touches the tonneau.

Suggestions welcome.

On my '90 coupe, upon cold start, if I shift into drive or reverse the car will stall. Once restarted, it runs fine for the rest of the day. If I goose the throttle slightly after shifting into gear, it doesn't stall and runs fine the rest of the day. I have replaced the IAC with a new one and cleaned the MAF which was very sooty. There is no CEL or any other warnings displayed. The car has 150K miles on her so something always needs to be fixed.

A mechanic friend suggested that there maybe a bad injector that doesn't spray a pattern but dribbles until the engine gets going. This only happens in the morning on a cold start. Any other ideas or suggestions to isolate the problem would be very appreciated.

Hello once again all my fellow Reatta fans :-). I'm the guy with the 1989 Buick Riviera. I had a quick question since I don't know much about how these transmissions operate. When I am turning left or right at about 20-25 mph, and go to accelerate, the rpm's raise, but the car doesn't actually pull forward or move until it is straight again. It normally does this only when the car is in 3rd gear; I look at the service mode screen and it indicates its in 3rd gear, but when I straighten out and go to accelerate, then it indicates its in 2nd. When the car is going straight, it doesnt seem to have problems shifting through any of the gears, that is unless I stomp the pedal to the floor; it seems to slip a little in 3rd. The transmission fluid is fresh with a new filter with the correct amount of fluid. The tranny was rebuilt about 7 years ago with 100,000 miles. It now has 135k on the clock. Any suggestions? It's a bad feeling when you are turning and you go to accelerate, but the car doesnt respond and drive forward!!!

I would like to get rid of my 91 steering wheel and throw the 88-89 style on there. What resistors do I need to stop the light from coming on? And is the wheel a straight swap? Yank off, replace, done? Where will the resistor go? Will the horn wire go in the same spot?

Also, does anyone have a gray steering wheel (and horn button) from 88-89 I can buy?

A few months ago I asked about wheel speed sensors and I found a couple but I am not sure which one is right for my 91 Coupe. I'm going to post 2 part numbers and links. Please someone let me know which one to order. I'm about to go on a 1000 mile trip and I want to get this fixed. I don't NEED it but I want to get that ugly dummy light off my dash!

It's for the front left in case it matters. I am led to understand the 91 was different from earlier years.

On my 90 coupe they work fine when you lift the door handle, turn them on with the slide switch on the dash and with the key fob transmitter. They only time they don't come on is when you open the door or the other door. Since both doors don't work I am thinking it has to be the BCM, any thoughts?
Thank's to all
Richard.
PS. I read the schematic and the BCM gets the door open signal on the same pin from both doors.

There area lot of nice Reatta cars that are owned by the members of this forum that never get the recognition they deserve. I think a lot of us would like to know more about these cars. I know I do. A couple of the cars that come to mind are 63Vikings and Daniels Supercharged cars but there is a long list of cars that are owned my members of this forum that I would like to know more about. I think it would be interesting to hear the details about restorations and modifications they have done to their cars. Also the folks here with unique stories about there Reatta might want the opportunity to tell about their cars.

If any Reatta owners who are on this forum would like to contribute photos and and a writeup about your cars, I would be more than happy to add a section to my website that would feature the cars and the work you have done on them. There could be a "Featured Reatta Of The Month" article each month that I think everyone here would enjoy reading.

Is anyone interested in this?

BTW, There will not be any "higher ups" that will over rule the decision on whether or not an article gets posted and there will be no fingers pointed if the valve stem caps are the wrong color. :)

I went to get my 89 Reatta aligned and was told that the rear leaf needs to be replaced. The car will bounce to the right in the rear when you go over a series of bumps (think rough railroad crossing) and the rear wheels are tilted inward at the top. This is also causing the insides of the tires to wear, and as the car needs new tires now because of it I need to get moving on it pretty quickly. I'll buy new tires for it as is if I have to, but would prefer to not ruin a new set by not replacing the spring.

I know that I can get a used spring from a couple of folks on the board, but before pursuing a used part, does anyone know where a NEW one might be found, or if there is another make of vehicle that might work? Thanks.

I assume most everybody has the "Fog Lights" and "Lamp Retract" button's.
Well, I never use either one, and for whatever reason I pressed them both.
And now my headlights are stuck in the up position and my fog lights are stuck on.
Fortunately I can turn the headlights off & the fogs shut off with the key.
I fiddled with both buttons and they spring back & forth but it seems like they are not clicking or actuating anything.
Any tips? Thanks in advance.

I have a 1989 Reatta and this weekend when the left turn signal was turned on the left turn lights blinked as they should. When the turn was completed the left turn lights kept blinking and they have blinked ever since when the key is on. Turning on the right turn signal adds the right turn lights to the left and makes it look like the flashers are on until the turn is completed and then the right turn lights go off but the left keep blinking.

I used the search option with various key words but so far have had no luck in finding someone who had a similar problem.

I am interested if anyone else has had this problem? We ( my son and I) think the problem is either the left turn mechanism on the steering column or the turn module is bad but don't know which?

Any help or comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Today my wife and I took our Reatta for a routine Sunday drive. After we had driven about 40 miles through the beautiful hills of Tennessee my ABS light came on and stayed on. No red brake warning light came on. When I tapped the brakes the IPC and the CRT started flashing on and off as long as my foot was on the brake pedal.

I pulled over on the side of the road, turned the engine off, and checked the relay on the firewall for a bad connection or something and looked over the brake system closely. I found nothing so I cranked up and continued on my way with the ABS light still shining. No more flashing IPC or CRT when I pressed the brake pedal. After I had driven another 20 or so miles I pressed the button to look at the gages and the voltage reading was jumping around from 12.2 volts to 14.5 volts erratically. I thought the alternator was going bad.

We drove about 10 more miles and stopped at McDonald's for a burger. When we came out the car started up just fine, went about 20 feet and died. Cranked back up and went another 50 feet and died. When I got under the hood and did some serious checking I found the battery cable a little loose. Tightened it up and ALL the problems disappeared.

I told this long winded story to point out how sensitive the Reatta ABS system is to voltage supply. A lot of the unsolved ABS problems that have been reported here may be due to poor connections, weak batteries and charging systems instead of defects in ABS parts. In the future when someone posts a question about the ABS light being on, maybe we should recommend testing for proper voltage to the ABS system before swapping parts to try to get it working again.

I would never have thought that the ABS light would come on and stay on when there was enough power being supplied to start the car. It may have been caused by the erratic voltage caused by the loose connection to the battery. I really don't know. Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I am trying to put my 88 back on the road after it sat for five years of great motoring fun. Had an engine installed 5 years ago and then it sat. I changed the fluids and tried to start it but with no success. Not getting any fuel and I think it's the after market alarm system I had put in 11 years ago which had a cut off included for the fuel. Remotes no longer work and I pulled out the controller which is a barracuda system. I need wiring digram to reconnect wiring as it was before alarm was installed to see if this is the problem. I've missed driving her and want to restore and enjoy once again. HELP!!!!

Got it from Lloyd's Auto. It is a reprint of the 1989 Reatta shop manual, and says FINAL EDITION across the title page. It's about 5 inches thick and cost about 101 bucks. The manual looks exactly like a typical GM manual, and looks like it covers just about everything to do with the car. The big reason I got it was the wiring harness. I've not had a chance to look through it yet.

The only negative to it is, it's a 5 inch thick manual, but was bound with a thin aluminum school report binder that's not designed for anything more than 2 inches thick. When I opened it to look at seat belts, the binding came apart immediately. I've sent them an email to complain and find out what they will do about it. The binding looked great, very professional before I cracked the manual open, but as soon as I did I discovered that the metal fingers only stuck out of the top of the manual by about a quarter inch, not nearly enough to hold the book together even treating it with kid gloves (which I normally do, with manuals).

Most likely I'll have to visit a local binding shop to get the book properly bound, might have them break it up into 5-6 books for ease of use.

I'll post pics of it as soon as I find out what my son did with my camera.

I have a 1990 soft top Reatta with 98,000 miles on it. It has some strange problem where it misses till it warms up. It has a power drain that no one can seem to find, and to make matters worse when it warms up and has been driven for about half an hour it dies. And it won't start till it warms up again. I have had 2 mechanics look at it and neither can figure it out. As best as i can tell it may have something to do with a aftermarket alarm system that was installed a long time ago. As far as the body is concerned I would give it a Fair rating. Interior wise It is in good condition. Dash display is in 100% working order. That being said, I was wondering how much this thing is worth. If you have any questions on something I have missed please feel free to ask below.

Thanks,

It is in excellent condition, everything works, it had only one previous owner and it has been garaged all its life. I would use it moderately because I will need it for occasional transportation. I'm really concerned about the unique parts on the car and any difficulties this might present, since I would not be buying it just as a collector's car. Also, I've heard that there can be issues with water leakage.
I would greatly appreciate any input because I need to make a decision quickly.
